Our Board of Directors

Our Board of Directors provides oversight and leadership to our organization and our activities. We are blessed to have such an experienced and dedicated team!

Matthew Hunt – Matt is the President and founder of StudioPlus Software, LLC, and has years of experience in business, non-profit and church leadership, working on financial planning for small to medium-sized organizations. Matt is the Board Treasurer.

Melissa Loomis– Melissa is an attorney at Prisoners’ Legal Services of New York, representing prisoners and working to improve prison conditions. She has also worked at the Project on Addressing Prison Rape, assisting correctional agencies to implement the federal Prison Rape Elimination Act standards. Melissa is the Board Secretary.

Barbara Frey – Barbara is an internationally-recognized expert on human rights education and advocacy. She has been the Director of the Human Rights Program at the University of Minnesota since 2001. Barbara is also the former Executive Director of the Advocates for Human Rights, a Minnesota-based non-profit.

William H. Mondale – Bill is an Assistant County Attorney in the Juvenile Prosecution Division of the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office. Bill has extensive public and private sector experience in Minnesota and in Mexico, and has served on a number of boards and advisory panels for non-profits.

Fernando Cevallos – Fernando is a Partner at F&C Consulting Group, specializing in forensic accounting, anti-corruption and compliance. He has over 14 years of experience working throughout Latin America and the United States on fraud, corruption and corporate risk assessment. Fernando is also on the Board of Justicia Juvenil Internacional, México A.C., IJC’s Mexican affiliate.

Lawrence Keillor – Larry is the former Chief Financial Officer of Foster Farms. In addition to his extensive experience in financial management and business consulting, Larry has also served as an adviser and board member of various non-profit and faith-based organizations.

D. Sherwood McKinnis – Sherwood is the managing partner at McKinnis & Doom, P.A. in Cambridge, Minnesota. He specializes in commercial litigation, personal injury & wrongful death, and criminal defense. Sherwood has provided years of leadership to faith-based organizations, churches and non-profits, and has a particular passion for helping vulnerable children.

Kaarin Nelson – Kaarin is an attorney at Halunen Law where she litigates employment law cases including discrimination, retaliation, and whistleblower actions. She has spent her legal career in the courtroom fighting for the rights of her clients. She started her legal career as an Assistant Public Defender at the Hennepin County Public Defenders Office in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Sarvesh Desai – Sarvesh is an Associate Attorney at DLA Piper LLP in Minneapolis, Minnesota. His practice focuses on domestic and international business, technology, health care and public-private development. He has worked with emerging companies in venture capital transactions, e-commerce and pro bono work includes representing non-profit as well as asylum applicants. Sarvesh is the Treasurer for NetIP (Network of Indian Professionals) Twin Cities, a non-profit serving to develop a network of South Asian professionals in the region.

Willie Bridges – Willie is a Senior Planning Analyst at the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office, which includes coordinating the Juvenile Diversion Program, Restorative Justice Program and Volunteer Program. Willie has been on the board of numerous community-based organizations in the Minneapolis area.
